Real Date Night

Most nights we have a short bedtime nightdate. We snuggle and talk about our day and stuff. Tonight we went on a real fancy mother daughter date. We went to see Aunt Lenna's high school play. The volunteers were concerned that it focused on too mature of themes for a 4 year old. The play was "Things I Wish I Could Say But Never Will" so it was mostly monologues of teenage topics, deep thoughts, concerns, complaints and confessions. Some topics were not ones I thought we needed to discuss at age 4, but I wasn't concerned. Several monologues were of teens that didn't feel like they could discuss their thoughts with their parents. What I want for you and I is to have a close trusting open relationship. I want you to know that you can always come to me about anything in your life. I promise to support you and love you and guide you if you request guidance and never pass judgement or punish you for your emotions or thoughts.
I believe this open, trusting relationship I seek must start by being comfortable discussing anything from the beginning. I will keep our conversations age appropriate, but I will also never lie to you or avoid discussing anything that you want to discuss. Sex, drugs, politics, religion, emotions, addiction, mistakes, secrets, nothing is too touchy.
You didn't really focus much on the actual monologues, and some were hard to hear at times, and some topics were just not comprehensible, so we didn't need to really discuss what you took from any of the topics. I'm not afraid of having these types of experiences or these types of conversations though, which is why I wasn't worried about bringing you to a coming of age, inner-thought sharing young adult themed play.

You enjoyed some dancing and the few musical numbers, but you were disappointed that nothing fell from the ceiling like the snow fell at the Christmas play.

New dresses

This was one of Daddy's old shirts, you loved it!
The Green Lantern is one of Daddy's favorite super heros, so when I found this pillow case at a thrift shop, I couldnt help but get it for a dress for you!

Keeping our cool.

Mommy was having a frustrated irritable all around bad mood day. I decided to dash out to Dairy Queen for spontaneous ice cream to remind me to keep my cool. And we laughed and played and talked and went home feeling much better.

Banana Pie

You made a banana cream pie today. You did it mostly by yourself. You cut the bananas, lined the pie crust with them, opened the pudding and mixed the milk in, poured it over the bananas and closed the lid.
Then we had our night date together just the two of us.

Meeting Lincoln

On the way you were so excited and kept saying that you were too excited and he was going to be soooo cute (but just the right amount of precious). You fell in love.
